Nepal has
asked India to open new air Gateways besides Kathmandu including Bhairahwa,
Nepalgunj and Mahendranagar. The Himalayan neighbor also asked India to resume
flights between Kathmandu to various Indian cities especially in North India.
These flights were suspended earlier this yearf after the outbreak of corona
virus.
Both the functionaries discussed ways to
promote tourism in both countries
These
issues were discussed during the Meeting the Nepal's Civil Aviation Minister
Yogesh Bhattari had with the Indian ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra in
Kathmandu on October 9th. Both the functionaries discussed ways to promote
tourism in both countries, including increased flights to remote locations and
revival of historically important tourism circuits according to reports in
local media
Both countries for 'Ramayana Circuit'
concept at the earliest
Both
countries felt the need to implement the 'Ramayana Circuit' concept at the
earliest, as part of which travel itineraries covering historically important religious
sites in India and Nepal. Pashupatinath, Lumbini and Janakpur are religious
tourism destinations of note which do not fall under the 'Ramayana Circuit',
said Bhattarai, who also heads Nepal's tourism ministry
Enhanced air connectivity would boost
tourism in both countries
Nepal's
Minister Bhattarai told Ambassador Kwatra that enhanced air connectivity would
boost tourism in both countries. Ambassador Kwatra told the minister that the
Indian government looks forward to developing religious sites in Nepal and
pledged assistance to revive the tourism sector in the country which is hit by
the coronavirus outbreak.
