The container
terminal –PSA SICAL terminals limited, one of the oldest PPP projects in India,
has made immense contributions to the trade and society in Thoothukudi.
It was PSA SICAL, who brought Thoothukudi on the world map of
container ports.
However, it’s
unfortunate that a notice of termination was served to shut it off, L Anand
Morais, president, Tuticorin Ship Agents Association, said on Sunday 6 Feb.
The TSAA has requested Port authorities to
consider a comprehensive relook at the royalty liabilities.
Fortunately, the
government has formed a special committee to look into such cases, he said.

Agents’ Association (TSAA) was established with the main motive to support
trade practices thus boosting the economic progression of Tuticorin. Since
1952, we are striving with smile and pleasure in maintaining a cordial
relationship with one and all concerning with shipping trade. Our association
was formed with a team of 62 members to redress the grievances of the members
of the association through constitutional methods and to enhance Tuticorin's
shipping trade across the globe.
Ever since our
formation, we are getting excellent co-operation and support from V.O.C Port
Trust and Customs Department for promoting the shipping trade practices in the
city, to resolve the problems effectively and to lead the association in the
right path.
