Centre of Excellence in Maritime & Shipbuilding (CEMS), a skill development initiative by Indian Register of Shipping and Sagarmala – Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Medhavi Skills University (MSU), a UGC, DGT and NSDC recognized Skills University.
CEMS & MSU will jointly develop and promote Industry 4.0 new-age courses in latest Software & Hardware tools and technology with university credits equivalence leading to recognized higher & technical qualifications in line with the New National Education Policy, NEP2020.
The collaboration will jointly co-create short-term and long-term courses aligned to National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and offer them under hire & train model to industries as well as credit-based courses modules to Colleges and Universities. MSU’s partnership with CEMS will integrate the standalone skills courses of CEMS into the University curriculum of ITI / B.Voc / Diploma / Certificate courses.
Under the MoU, the University enrolled
students will spend 1-4 months in CEMS campuses to get exposure to practical training
with high end technical laboratories and Industry faculties before they are
onboarded into partner Industry as trainees under various apprenticeship
schemes.
Additionally, the University will leverage its industry relations to offer Industry 4.0 courses of CEMS to industries in Engineering/ Manufacturing/ Automotive sectors to up-skill their existing manpower. The said courses will be jointly assessed and certified by the University and CEMS.
Also, under the collaboration, the University and CEMS will undertake capacity building and skill enhancement programmes for Skill Trainers required to augment the trainer capacity and to create a ready pool of trained and certified trainers for Skill India ecosystem.

integrating such skills and courses as an integral part of the University
curriculum. The University credit equivalence of courses / skills will lead to
candidates earning Higher Education qualification and career progression.
