Ports Global Ltd, a special entity created to facilitate India’s engagement in
the development of Shahid Beheshti Port at Chabahar in southern Iran, will open
offices in Tehran and Chabahar in order to promote regional trade and transit.
Minister
for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal is currently on a visit to
Iran to review progress on the development of Shahid Beheshti Port, a key
gateway for India to enhance connectivity with Central Asian countries said
this in a statement.

Memorandum of Understanding for development of Shahid Beheshti Port at Chabahar
was signed in May 2015 with India Ports Global starting operations in December
2018.
“Since India Ports Global Ltd assumed
operations of Shahid Beheshti Port, it has handled over 4.8 million tons of
bulk cargo,” said a statement from the shipping ministry.
Sonowal
earlier commissioned six mobile harbor cranes at the Shahid Beheshti Port to
Indian Ports Global Chabahar Free Trade Zone managed by India Ports Global.
