The agitating fishermen’s principal
demand is that construction work in the adani port project at Vizhinjam should
be stopped and a proper environment impact study be conducted to evaluate the
cause of massive sea erosion in the area since the port project commenced
CPIM led government in Kerala has however rejected the demand to stop the construction and said the agitation is
sponsored by outsiders. Singhur and Nandigram is being reenacted here says the
protestors referring the left party supporting the Tata’s Nano automobile
project in West bengal against the agitating farmers. The outsider bogey was
also raised in Bengal but finally the farmers demands were met and the
automobile plant was shunted out they said.
The stand-off between the
protesting fisherman folks and the state government has intensified as the
second round of talks over feasible land acquisition and environmental impact
study on coastal erosion has failed. The protesters have demanded that a study
needs to be conducted by scientists recommended by the people in the coastal
regions on the coastal erosion phenomenon

Adani transshipment sea-port has been intensifying in the past one week.
The fishing community under the
leadership of the Catholic Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram has said the protests will continue until all
their demands are met.
