The
Australian port handled 257,227 TEU in the first month of 2023.
Port of
Melbourne reported that full overseas
imports were down 11.1 per cent in January 2023 from the same period last year,
with furniture, metal manufactures, domestic appliances, paperboard, toys and
sports goods, all below last year’s volumes.
Full overseas
exports in January 2023 were down 18.4 per cent from the same period in 2022,
with hay and fodder, pulp and waste paper, and dried milk all below last year’s
levels, Port of Melbourne reported.
The total empty container movements
increased by 2.7 per cent from January 2022.
