As many as 101 infrastructure
projects valued over Rs Sixty thousand
crores have been identified by the Port and shipping Ministry aimed at
development of Multi Modal connectivity under the National Master Plan of Gati Shakti program Port and shipping
Minister Sarbananda Sonawal informed the Rajya Sabha in a written answer on
March 14th
Out of these, 13 projects worth Rs. 4,423 Crore have been
completed. The state wise list of projects for Ports and shipping sector is
annexed.
The department of Expenditure of
the Finance Ministry has made an additional provision of rs five thousand
crores as special assistance to the states for capital investment for the
current financial year. The allocation
to the state is made through long term loans at zero interest rate
Ministry of Ports, Shipping and
Waterways has undertaken various initiatives for ease of doing business.
Incentives such as Model Concession Agreement, flexibility to concessioners,
New tariff guidelines have been issued which allows improvement in port
performance at Major Ports. However, Under Gati Shakti there is no envisaged
structure related to additional incentives to any high performing port.
