The vessel Zhen Hua 15, carrying 2 STS cranes and 3
RMGCs, traversed 5,300 nautical miles over a period of 20 days to reach the
facility. The cranes are being unloaded and will be commissioned in due course
of time, informed a communique.
The
new cranes with 23 rows reach will help cater to larger vessels in shorter time, thereby increasing
operational efficiencies at the terminal. With their commissioning, the
terminal capacity will enhance by 10% to 2.2 million TEUs per annum.
GTI thanked its customers and stakeholders for
their understanding and support during its transformation journey. “We are
gearing up to welcome larger vessels and handling larger volumes efficiently,
thereby offering superior customer experience,” it stressed in a statement.
