Movement of cargo to Jawaharlal Nehru port and Mumbai
ports from Konkan region will be affected for a week from June One due to
restrictions imposed on movement of heavy goods on the Mumbai Goa Highways.
The restrictions of movement heavy
vehicles on this highways follow the conduct of 350th coronation
ceremony of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj being celebrated at Raigad Fort during
this period
The EXIM trade to both the ports have been advised to
plan movement accordingly as the ban is from 12 midnight on 31st May to 12
midnight on 2nd June, and from midnight on 4th June to midnight on 6th
June.
Trucks, containers, multi-axle vehicles, trailers, sand
and mineral transport vehicles of 16 tonnes and above capacity have been banned
from the highway during this period.
However, essential services like transportation of milk,
fuel, gas, medical supplies, liquid oxygen, vegetables and vehicles used for
road repair and widening work have been exempted, according to media reports.
