There is an urge to increase the supply of seafarers from India both
Officers and Ratings.Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) have been gearing up to
increase the intake of seafarers and to compete with other nationalities.
Orientation
is important to new hires. Not only does it acclimate the new hires to the
environment, but it also provides valuable insight into the career path and
contributes to the growth. RL Institute of Nautical Sciences (RLINS) conducted
a detailedOrientation Program for their new Batch of GP Rating of 120
candidates on 12th July 2023 at the Institute.
President Dr. R. Lakshmipathywelcomed the students and the faculty
members. He emphasized that education imparted is to bring people employable
and on the career side, the tag line- Sail To Prosper.
Capt. Edison Raj, Principal, RLINS welcomed the gathering and
highlighted the brief activities covered for GP Ratings.
Dr. L. Ramasubhu, Joint Secretary, and Mr. Ram Kumar, Management
Executive, participated in the function and Mr Ram Kumar addressed to
motivate the students.
Mr. Ashok Advani, Advisor RLINS addressed the candidates on lucrative
career ahead but stressed on the expectations required by the Shipowners/ Shipmanagers
for getting placements on board the ships, thoroughly explaining the details of
the job on board, and compliance with regulations namely MARPOL and safety
aspects, clearly defining overarching expectations.
The
function was closed with a Vote of Thanks from Dr. M. Kumarasamy, Vice
Principal, RLINS.
