With this, the terminal will resume operations on both the berths.  The terminal went through its future proofing project aptly titled as “Fit for Future”, under which the terminal invested in infrastructure development.

Commissioning of new cranes will enable the terminal to accommodate and turn around larger vessels safely and quickly. Currently the civil work is ongoing for extending terminal’s south bridge and installing dolphin moors which will be completed early next year, thereby increasing the container handling capacity of GTI by 10% to 2.18 million TEUs.

The Inauguration was done by Shri Sanjay Sethi – The chairman of JNPA in presence of Shri UnmeshWagh- Dpt. Chairman of JNPA, Mr. RajibBhowal – CEO of GTI, Mr. SunayMukerjee-COO of GTI and other dignitaries from JNPA, CASF and GTI colleagues.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. SunayMukerjee, COO – GTI said “In our endeavour to provide the best service to our customers, it was inevitable that we upgrade our infrastructure to cater to the larger vessels safely and efficiently at our terminal. I congratulate and thank team GTI for working relentlessly within limited resources to serve our customers during the project.  Safety is our license to operate, and I am proud that we completed more than 1 million safe man hours on this project. My heartfelt gratitude to our customers and stake holders for their trust, support, and cooperation during the future proofing project. We are keen to welcome larger vessels and we ensure to turn around the vessels safely and efficiently to support Indian trade.”

Shri Sanjay Sethi (IAS) Hon’ble Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority greeted GTI team and mentioned, ” We are pleased to witness the successful resumption of operations at Gateway Terminals India, a testament to our commitment to enhancing the efficiency and capacity of the whole port.
