Following protests by the Telugu Desam party led by
former minister Somireddy Chandra mohan Reddy against the proposed suspension
of container operations at the Krishnapatnam port recently, Adani
Krishnapatnamport limited (AKPL) clarified through a statement on Sunday, that
the container operations at the Krishnapatnam port will continue unhindered.
AKPL clarified that
“Krishnapatnam is an important port for us and we are continuously focusing on
building and strengthening its operations. The
infrastructure like berths, yard and equipment remains as it is. The terminal
can handle any container vessel that calls upon Krishnapatnam Port.
As a part of PPP
model we are paying revenue share to the government regularly and this revenue
is increasing in view of growth in cargo volume every year, “We would like to state that Adani Krishnapatnam Port is committed for
the development and growth of Andhra Pradesh and have always supported its
overall growth”, the Adani group clarified.
Meanwhile, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said an
all-party delegation will soon visit the Krishnapatnam port to ascertain the
ground realities with regards to the continuation of container operations at
the port.
