APM
Terminals Pipavav (GPPL) has recently marked a significant milestone as it
celebrated 25 years of handling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the port. This
achievement is based around a long-standing partnership between GPPL and Aegis
Vopak Terminals Limited.
As well
as enabling the onward movement of LPG cargoes by rail since 2022, GPPL is currently investing in a new liquid
berth to cater to the increasing demand for liquid cargoes. This follows an
enhancement of its liquid berth capability to be able to handle Very Large Gas
Carriers (VLGC) last August, providing Pipavav port with a strong competitive
edge in this market. Looking ahead, GPPL is poised to establish connectivity to
the Kandla Gorakhpur LPG Pipeline by mid-2024, thereby complementing existing
road and rail capabilities.
According to the company: “As we celebrate 25 years of success, these strategic
advancements affirm GPPL’s commitment to innovation and growth in the dynamic
landscape of LPG handling. We remain
committed to continuously enhancing our capabilities and services to play a
vital role in meeting the evolving LPG import needs of the nation.”
APM
Terminals Pipavav created a new monthly volume record for liquid cargo in
February, handling 136,690 tonnes of liquid bulk and gas shipments. This
included 86, 903 tonnes of LPG, the highest volume for this cargo type recorded
in a month. The company notes that all
LPG shipments were imported on VLGCs, underlining the port’s enhanced abilities
to accommodate the largest gas carrier type
