CCBA
members attended the session
The Chennai Customs Brokers’ Association (CCBA) organised an
Interactive Session (OPEN HOUSE) exclusively for their Custom Brokers with
Commissioners of Customs Chennai Customs on 15th March 2024 at Club Hall, Sea
Customs. The Principal Commissioner of Customs (General) Shri R. Srinivasa Naik
IRS, Commissioner of Customs (Import), Shri K.S.V.V Prasad, IRS and Additional
Commissioner of Customs Shri B. Lokanath Reddy, IRS, Dr A. Mohan Senior
Director (Technical) NIC and other Senior Customs officials were interacted
with CBs. CCBA President Shri R.N. Sekar and Secretary Shri S. Nataraja
briefed about the recent trade facilitations and appreciated for extensive
support given by Chennai Customs to the Trade. Paperless transactions,
automated process in the customs clearance in single window System were the key
milestone changes done under the ease of doing business.
Shri R.N. Sekar President CCBA highlighted some critical points
like the challenges faced by the members in faceless assessment and frequent
down time of ICEGATE System. Shir R.N. Sekar also urged department to resolve
the prevailing problems faced by Customs Brokers and trade owing to the slow
System, which sometimes remains down for 5 to 6 hrs in a day. Both
commissioners were explained in detail about the current implementation in the
system and assured to take up with DG System and CBIC for the concern raised by
the Association and their members, a large number of members took part in the
session and interacted with the Officers.
