UK-based maritime security firm
Ambrey and Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), a leading port agency and marine
services company, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing safety
and security in the maritime sector.
The partnership means that Ambrey and Inchcape will
jointly offer a wide range of services through Inchcape’s Survey &
Inspection Department, headed by Vice President Chris Greenwood. These services
include Citadel Inspections, Ship Security Assessments, Anti-Piracy Ship
Security Assessments, Ship Security Plan Reviews, and Port Security Assessments
on projects across the globe.
Inchcape Shipping Services, already a
trusted partner for some of the world’s leading shipping companies, will
contribute its experience in commercial shipping operations and associated data
with Ambrey’s industry-leading risk expertise. The shared insights and
implementation of best practices are projected to improve both safety and
commercial outcomes in the sector.
Ambrey has become well-known for its early
reporting on Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, as
well as its physical maritime protection services, such as providing armed
guards, vessel-based armories, and security escorts for maritime clients.
The companies’ announcement said the partnership
will allow Inchcape to utilize Ambrey’s extensive expertise in safety and
security services, supplementing Inchcape’s global network, data intelligence,
and experience.
Svend Stenberg, CCO at Inchcape Shipping Services, says the partnership will help to
revolutionize safety protocols in the maritime industry and ultimately ensure
safer operations.
“It is a hugely uncertain time for global shipping
and the maritime sector, threats are incredibly dynamic and this is asking
serious questions of the existing ways risks to vessels, crew and cargo are
being mitigated,” commented Chris Charnley Group Managing Director at Ambrey.
“Ambrey is always looking to innovate, challenge and lead the maritime security
industry, through this partnership we will be able to do so rapidly and at
scale enhancing safety and security exactly where it is most needed.”
