Arrival of “MS The World “Cruise ship at Chennai Port

Shri. SUNIL PALIWAL, I.A.S, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority emphasized the historical importance of Chennai Port and the role played to promote International Cruise Tourism in India. With the modernized Cruise Terminal and with the various facilitating measures undertaken by the Central and State Government and with the active support of Vessel Agent M/s. ISS Shipping India Pvt Ltd., and other agencies, Chennai Port attracts more such Cruise vessels.

MS The World, Bahamas Flag Cruise Vessel called Chennai Port on 24.04.2024 with 280 crews and 89 Passengers. The vessel’s last Port of call is Trincomalee, Sri Lanka and set to sail to Visakapatnam on 26.04.2024.

The specialty of MS The World, unlike other cruise vessels plying around the world, is that she is a private residential cruise ship operated like a condominium complex with large apartments that can be purchased.  The residents from many countries, living on board the ship travels. Some residents choose to live on board full-time while others periodically throughout the year.

The World cruise ship deck plans show a total of 165 apartments (106 apartments, 19 studio apartments and 40 studios) 5x restaurants, wellness spa, 2x meetings rooms, showroom, library, cinema, Atrium Lobby Hall, Helideck, bars and lounges.  On sun deck are positioned swimming pool, outdoor Jacuzzi furnished sunbathing area. On Sports deck are positioned Tennis Court, Golf Course, Gym Room, Billiard Room with 12 Decks.

The Tour Operators have organized individual tour itinerary for the passengers to visit city sightseeing including walk tour of Mylapore, and George Town, Mamallapuram and Kanchipuram.
