The
port handled an impressive 1,30,863 TEUs across 55 vessels during May 2026,
marking a new benchmark in its operational journey and reflecting growing
confidence among global shipping lines and trade stakeholders.
Since commencing operations in July
2024, Adani Vizhinjam has demonstrated remarkable growth momentum, successfully
handling 961 vessels and more than 20.18 lakh TEUs, underscoring its expanding
role in India’s maritime and container logistics landscape. Strategically located near one of the
world’s busiest international shipping routes, the deep-water port is designed
to accommodate the largest next-generation container vessels, offering
significant advantages in terms of reduced transit time, operational
efficiency, and global connectivity.
The achievement highlights the port’s
strong focus on world-class infrastructure, advanced cargo handling
capabilities, modern technology integration, and high operational efficiency,
enabling seamless container movement and enhanced turnaround performance.
Adani Vizhinjam’s rapid growth
trajectory reflects India’s broader ambition to strengthen its position in the
global maritime ecosystem by increasing domestic transshipment capacity,
reducing dependence on foreign ports, and creating globally competitive
logistics infrastructure. With its
state-of-the-art facilities, natural deep draft, and strategic geographical
advantage, the port continues to emerge as a critical gateway for regional and
international container trade, supporting economic growth, supply chain
resilience, and maritime sector expansion.
Each milestone reinforces Adani Vizhinjam’s vision of becoming a premier
global transshipment destination, built to handle the biggest vessels and
poised to power the next chapter of India’s maritime growth story.
