In response to a marked decline in air pollution in the
national capital, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has modified the duty
hours of government and municipal employees. According to an official statement, employees of the Delhi Government,
who previously worked from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, will now start at 9:30 am and
finish at 6:00 pm. Meanwhile, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials
will see their hours shift from 8:30 am–5:00 pm. to a revised schedule of 9:00
am–5:30 pm.
The LG's decision comes in view of the consistent
improvement in Delhi's pollution metrics over recent months, reflecting better
air quality in the region.
