COUNCIL AND ASSEMBLY PLENARY SESSIONS, AS WELL AS THE AWARDS, WILL BE LIVESTREAMED ON IMO'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL*. (*The election of the Council is held in-person via a private ballot and will not be livestreamed). IMO Council (C 135), 20 to 21 November The IMO Council is the executive organ of IMO and is responsible, under the Assembly, for supervising the work of the Organization. The Council is made up of 40 Member States, elected by the Assembly for two-year terms. The Council (C 135) reports to the Assembly (A 34). IMO Assembly, 24 November to 3 December The Assembly is the highest Governing Body of the Organization. It consists of all Member States and meets once every two years in regular sessions. The Assembly is responsible for approving the work programme, the budget and determining the financial arrangements of the Organization. The Assembly also elects the Members of the Council. In addition, the Assembly adopts certain resolutions emanating from the five IMO Committees and endorses actions of the Council with respect to the admission of new intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations as observers. |
