DG Shipping urges Indian seafarers to update profiles ahead of e-Samudra transition

The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has issued a crucial advisory to all Indian seafarers, calling for immediate verification and updation of personal and professional details on the existing e-Governance Portal. The directive comes as preparations intensify for the transition to the new e-Samudra Portal, a key digital initiative for maritime administration.

Seafarers have been asked to complete the updation process on or before 7 January 2026. According to DG Shipping, all data currently available on the e-Governance Portal will be migrated to the e-Samudra system on 15 January 2026. Any inaccuracies or missing information could lead to complications during migration and affect access to services on the new platform.

The authority has advised seafarers to carefully review and update the following details in their profiles:  Personal information   Certificates of competency and proficiency Educational qualifications and Other records reflected in the existing system

DG Shipping has emphasised that maintaining accurate and up-to-date records is essential to ensure a seamless and error-free transition to the new portal.

In case of technical difficulties or issues during the updation process, seafarers may reach out to the DG Shipping helpdesk at helpdesk-dgs@gov.in or dgship-dgs@nic.in. Alternatively, concerns can also be submitted through the Google Form referenced in the official notice.

All seafarers and maritime stakeholders have been strongly advised to treat this notice as a priority and comply within the stipulated timeline to avoid disruptions once the e-Samudra Portal goes live.
