The Karnataka Maritime Board (KMB) has proposed a
new coastal ferry service connecting Mangaluru and Maravanthe, aimed at
improving regional connectivity and promoting tourism along the Karnataka
coastline.
The proposed ferry
link is expected to reduce travel time, enhance passenger convenience, and
provide a sustainable alternative to road transport along the scenic coastal
route. KMB is evaluating the route feasibility, safety measures, and vessel
requirements before launching operations.
A spokesperson from KMB said, “The
Mangaluru–Maravanthe ferry service aligns with our vision of boosting maritime
transport, supporting local tourism, and providing eco-friendly travel options
for residents and visitors.”
The project is currently in the planning stage, with
detailed feasibility studies and stakeholder consultations underway.
