The Antigua and Barbuda-flagged Cape Dao
was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on 23 September at
06:30 hrs UTC. The vessel was on fire
and adrift following the attack and according to maritime security firm
Vanguard Tech one seafarer died in the attack and a least one other was
described as a casualty. According to
Pole Star Global’s PurpleTrac database the 191,074 dwt Cape Dao is managed and
operated by Peonies Shipmanagement in the UAE, and its beneficial owner is
unknown. It is the third reported
attack in the Strait of Hormuz this week following a strike on the tanker LR
Stephanie on 21 September and the ADNOC L&S LPG tanker Al Maryah which was
hit by a drone on 20 September.
