RITES Limited signed a memorandum of understanding
with the Government of Botswana to support the development and modernisation of
railway and transport infrastructure by providing technical expertise, systems
support and capacity building to improve efficiency and safety. The MoU was signed with Botswana’s
Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and sets the framework for cooperation
on railway modernisation, including rolling stock supply, commissioning,
repair, operations and maintenance support, and workshop upgrades.
The
partnership also covers transportation infrastructure projects across railways,
highways, bridges, airports, and buildings, with RITES expected to provide
planning, engineering, and implementation support. As part of the agreement, RITES will deliver capacity-building and
technical training programmes, which are expected to strengthen local skills
and create opportunities for greater participation of women in supply chain
roles linked to transport and logistics projects... The scope of work
further includes knowledge exchange, quality assurance services such as
third-party inspections and final acceptance testing, and the deployment of
information technology systems for train operations and passenger management. RITES Limited is a Navratna public sector
enterprise with experience across multiple countries and has undertaken
transport consultancy and engineering projects in Asia, Africa, Latin America
and the Middle East.
