During the interaction at Chamber Bhavan, GCCI
welcomed the commencement of the Bhuj–Delhi train service and approval of the
Hajipir Railway Line Project, stating that both initiatives would boost
tourism, trade and industrial growth in Kutch.
The Chamber
submitted a memorandum seeking expansion of railway infrastructure in view of
rising container traffic, including the proposed DP World Container Terminal
expected by mid-2027. GCCI also strongly demanded the extension of the
broad-gauge railway line up to Mandvi-Kutch to support tourism and cargo
movement. The Chamber further sought
revival of the proposed Railway Coach Factory for Kutch, modernization of
freight handling systems, introduction of SS container facilities for salt
transportation and new long-distance train services connecting Bhuj/Gandhidham
with Haridwar-Dehradun, Varanasi, Bhagalpur and Amritsar. GM Shri
Ramashray Pandey assured trade representatives that Western Railway would
positively consider the suggestions and place key infrastructure and passenger
service demands before higher authorities.
