The
group’s management recently met His Excellency Paulus Shipokosa Mashatile,
Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, along with an accompanying
ministerial delegation, and conveyed its strong interest in supporting the
deepening economic relationship between the two countries.
During the interaction, Auro
Group presented KGPL as its flagship infrastructure project. The deep-water
port is being developed to handle diversified cargo including coal, iron ore
and other minerals, liquid chemicals, LNG, LPG and containers. Designed to
accommodate vessels of up to 200,000 DWT with a 20-metre draft, the port offers
a backup area of over 1,650 acres and an approximately 6 km seafront. KGPL is
being built to a master plan capacity of more than 120 MTPA and is currently
under construction. Complementing the
port, Auro Group is developing an integrated industrial park spanning 5,600
acres, equipped with world-class infrastructure and requisite environmental
clearances. The close linkage between the port and the industrial park is
expected to drive industrial growth and contribute to India’s Vision 2047
aspirations by enabling large-scale, export-oriented manufacturing and
logistics. Auro Group expressed its
intent to explore opportunities in trade, logistics, mineral handling,
industrial development and strategic partnerships connecting South Africa with
India’s east coast through KGPL. Such collaboration is expected to enhance
bilateral trade by facilitating efficient cargo movement, fostering industrial
cooperation and supporting long-term economic engagement between the two
nations. The South African delegation responded positively to the presentation
and encouraged further discussions on mutually beneficial avenues of
partnership and collaboration.
