The inaugural containerised rake was loaded on June
28, 2026, from Devaliya Private Freight Terminal (PFT), Gujarat (WCGD) to
Hyderabad (CMCN), marking a major milestone in the transition of edible salt
transportation from conventional road-based logistics to containerised rail
services. The achievement was made possible through close coordination and
sustained efforts by CONCOR in partnership with Western Carriers (India) Ltd.,
which played a key role in facilitating the successful conversion of the cargo
movement to rail. The initiative is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency
while offering a more reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable
logistics solution for leading FMCG companies. According to CONCOR, the successful
movement represents a significant expansion of its customer base, strengthens
rail-based freight logistics, promotes greener transportation, and reinforces
long-term partnerships with major FMCG players such as ITC and HUL.
