The crude oil tanker berthed at Single Point
Mooring (SPM-I) at 11:30 am after loading Basrah Medium and Basrah Heavy
crude oil from Iraq.
During its voyage,
the vessel was caught in the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East,
forcing it to operate under heightened security conditions. The tanker remained
in continuous coordination with the Indian Navy while facing prolonged delays
and an unsuccessful initial attempt to transit the Strait of Hormuz. According to Paradip Port Authority, the
vessel also sustained shrapnel damage to its bridge during a hostile
engagement. Despite the incident, the Master and crew maintained safe
operations and ensured the well-being of everyone on board. Following the reopening of the Strait of
Hormuz, the tanker resumed its voyage and reached Paradip without further
incident. All officers and crew members remained safe throughout the
mission. On arrival, representatives of the Paradip Port
Authority and SERPL, including the Harbour Master, welcomed the Master and crew
with bouquets and mementoes in recognition of their professionalism, resilience,
and dedication under exceptionally difficult circumstances. Paradip
Port Authority commended the crew’s courage, highlighting the vital role played
by seafarers in ensuring the uninterrupted movement of global energy supplies
despite geopolitical uncertainties.
