Chennai Port Introduces Concession Scheme to Boost Outer Anchorage Maritime Services
Chennai Port Authority has introduced a Promotional Concession Scheme offering significant discounts on Port Dues and Anchorage Fees for vessels calling exclusively at Chennai Port Outer Anchorage for bunkering and other eligible maritime services.

Chennai Port Introduces Concession Scheme to Boost Outer Anchorage Maritime Services

Under the new scheme, vessels with a Gross Register Tonnage (GRT) of up to 50,000 will receive an 85% concession, while vessels above 50,000 GRT will be eligible for a 90% concession on applicable Port Dues and Anchorage Fees. The initiative covers a broad range of maritime services, including bunkering, supply of provisions and stores, spares, crew changes, sick crew disembarkation, vessel repairs, underwater operations, surveys and inspections, among other eligible activities.      The scheme has come into effect from 10 August 2026 and is designed to encourage greater use of Chennai Port Outer Anchorage as a hub for offshore maritime services.   According to the port, the concession is aimed at promoting an Integrated Offshore Maritime Services Hub at Chennai Port Outer Anchorage, strengthening the port’s role in providing cost-effective and efficient services to vessels operating along the Indian coastline and regional maritime routes.

The move is expected to enhance Chennai Port’s competitiveness in the offshore maritime services segment while creating opportunities to attract vessels that require essential services without entering the main port facilities.   The promotional scheme is also aligned with efforts to expand the range of ancillary maritime services available at Chennai Port and improve the overall efficiency of vessel operations.
