Indian Businesses Prioritise Supply Chain Resilience, Diversification: DP World Report
Indian businesses are actively redesigning supply chains to strengthen resilience and tap new growth opportunities, with supplier diversification, strategic inventory, friend-shoring and digitalisation emerging as key priorities, according to DP World’s India Country Report 2026.

Indian Businesses Prioritise Supply Chain Resilience, Diversification: DP World Report

Based on a survey of 451 senior supply chain and logistics executives, the report finds Indian companies placing greater emphasis on resilience than their global counterparts. More than half have fully digitalised customer-facing services, compared with fewer than 40% globally, while AI is increasingly being used for route optimisation, documentation and customs processes.   India’s expanding trade agreements are also creating new sourcing and market opportunities. FTAs emerged as the top policy priority for further trade growth, cited by nearly half of executives. The report also highlights stronger access to trade finance, with 57% of Indian respondents reporting reasonable availability versus 39% globally.   With businesses moving closer to new markets, multimodal connectivity is gaining importance. 46% of logistics executives identified road networks as a priority, while rail and coastal shipping are increasingly being adopted to improve efficiency and resilience.   DP World said its integrated Indian network—covering ports, warehousing, freight forwarding, rail and digital logistics—supports businesses in building more flexible and resilient supply chains.     Rizwan Soomar, CEO & MD, DP World, said India’s trade growth is entering a new phase, driven by diversified sourcing, strategic inventory, digitalisation and access to new markets. He added that integrated infrastructure and technology can strengthen India’s competitiveness in global value chains.
