The ATC Tires Visakhapatnam
warehouse has commenced operations at TVS Industrial & Logistics Parks’
facility in Andhra Pradesh, adding a central storage and distribution hub to
the tyre manufacturer’s logistics network.
Announced on 21 October 2026, the lease covers 80,000 sq. ft. The
facility will support domestic supply chains and export operations while
improving access to industrial and manufacturing markets. Its role as a mother hub places the
warehouse within the company’s wider distribution structure, providing a
location from which inventory can be organised for onward movement. The
announcement does not disclose the lease tenure, rental value or expected
annual throughput. The warehouse will
accommodate Yokohama passenger car tyres alongside off-highway products sold
under the ALLIANCE, GALAXY and PRIMEX brands.
These off-highway tyres serve agricultural, construction, industrial and
forestry applications. The product range therefore connects the facility with
customers across several sectors, extending its distribution role beyond the
passenger vehicle market. Handling
these categories within one hub brings together inventory serving different end
users and operating environments. Commercially, the value of that arrangement
will depend on how effectively stock availability and dispatch planning match
demand across the distribution network.
For dealers and industrial customers, the relevant outcomes will be
dependable product availability and delivery performance. The companies have
positioned the facility as part of their effort to strengthen those
capabilities. Yokohama General Manager
for Supply Chain Management Jose Motha described the collaboration as a step
towards strengthening logistics infrastructure and improving operational efficiency. He linked the warehouse investment to the
company’s manufacturing presence in Visakhapatnam and highlighted access to
trade routes and markets across southern and eastern India. Locating warehousing within the same city
as manufacturing creates an opportunity to coordinate production, inventory and
onward distribution more closely. The actual movement pattern will depend on
how the company allocates products between the facility, domestic customers and
export shipments. The announcement identifies
export support as a function of the warehouse but does not specify the ports,
shipping services or overseas destinations it will serve. For TVS ILP, the lease brings an operating
tyre-sector customer into its Visakhapatnam development. Joint Managing Director Dr Ramnath
Subramaniam said the partnership reflected demand for infrastructure that can
accommodate changing operational and supply-chain requirements. He identified Visakhapatnam’s industrial
ecosystem, connectivity and investment environment as factors supporting business
interest. He also pointed to potential demand from sectors including e-commerce
and fast-moving consumer goods. Those
comments indicate the developer’s broader market ambitions. The confirmed
transaction, however, concerns ATC Tires and the space it has occupied at the
park. The companies expect the
development to create local employment opportunities, although no employment
estimate was provided. The transaction
illustrates how industrial warehousing can support a manufacturer’s market
reach alongside its production investment.
For tyre businesses, finished-goods storage and dispatch form the
connection between factory output and customer demand. A mother hub can provide
a point for coordinating those activities across a wider geography. In this case, the combination of domestic
distribution and export support gives the warehouse responsibilities across two
distinct cargo flows. Its operating requirements will be shaped by the timing,
inventory and documentation needs of each.
For logistics providers, such facilities can create demand for
transport, handling and related services. The scale of that opportunity will
depend on actual cargo movement rather than the leased floor area alone. The commencement of operations makes this
an occupied facility supporting an identified customer’s supply chain. Its longer-term contribution will be
measured through inventory management, dispatch efficiency and service to
domestic and export markets.
For Visakhapatnam, the lease adds a distribution
activity associated with an established manufacturing business. It also
demonstrates the role that logistics parks can play in accommodating companies
seeking dedicated space to organise finished goods and support wider market
access.
