The discussions took place between Minister of State for Commerce and
Industry Jitin Prasada and
his Korean counterpart Yeo Han-Koo on
the sidelines of the G20 Trade and
Investment Ministers’ Meeting (TIMM) in Gqeberha, South Africa.

from Japan, South Africa, and the Netherlands, during which the
leaders discussed measures to boost trade and investment ties.
In the WTO-related discussions, the minister called for the restoration of a fully functional, two-tier
dispute settlement system with an operational appellate body to
ensure a fair and rules-based global trading framework. He further
highlighted the need for a permanent solution on public stockholding
for food security, emphasizing the importance of maintaining affordable
access to food for developing economies.
“India also highlighted policy space for development and adequate
transition periods for developing members,” the ministry added.
The G20 serves
as the primary forum for international
economic cooperation, bringing together major economies to address key
global trade, investment, and development challenges.
