At the event, hosted by the Propeller Club of the US – Port of Jacksonville, CEO Eric Green, said the annual
address spotlighted disciplined capital investment, operational efficiency and
strategic partnerships as central to strengthening Jacksonville’s competitive position in the Southeast US.
Green said: “As you may have
noticed, our terminals look different today than they did even a year ago. That
progress reflects a consistent, long-term strategy.”
Among the headline projects is the $250 million modernisation
of Blount Island’s
container and automotive facilities, including completion of the SSA
Jacksonville International Container Terminal operated by SSA Marine and a new vehicle
processing centre for Southeast
Toyota Distributors.
Work to raise the air draft to 205 feet, enabling
larger vessels to access Jacksonville’s
47-foot deepwater harbour, remains on schedule for completion by year-end,
further enhancing nautical access and operational flexibility.
Green added: “Through disciplined, targeted
investments, we have strengthened our capabilities across all cargo types. Our
focus remains on providing efficient and modern facilities and delivering
long-term value for our customers and community.”
In FY2025, JAXPORT handled
nearly 1.4 million TEUs, 506,000 vehicle units and more than 10 million tonnes
of cargo, underlining its position as Florida’s leading container
port by volume and one of the nation’s top vehicle-handling gateways.
In August 2025, JAXPORT earned the 2025 Quest
for Quality Award from Logistics Management, ranking as one of
North America’s top-performing coastal ports.
