JNPA Waives Storage and Reefer Charges for Export Containers Stranded by Middle East Crisis

The relief covers containers that were inside terminal yards from 28th February 2026 or gated in until 7:00 AM on 8th March 2026. Terminal operators will provide a 100% waiver on ground rent/dwell time for up to 15 days and an 80% waiver on reefer plug-in charges for perishable cargo for the same period, extending up to 14th March 2026.

JNPA, in coordination with terminal operators and customs authorities, has also arranged additional storage space and facilitated temporary transshipment of containers from other ports destined for the Middle East. Shipping lines, NVOCCs, and freight forwarders have been directed to ensure these benefits reach exporters directly.      The move aligns with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways’ directive to mitigate the impact of Middle East disruptions and support the EXIM community during the crisis.
