The feature lets customers photograph shipment items with a smartphone. AI then analyzes the image and generates a customs-compliant item description within seconds. Customers can review, edit, or replace the suggested description before completing the shipment.    DHL said the tool will: Improve shipment data accuracy; Reduce customs delays and simplify international shipping.  The company added that better item descriptions can help speed up customs processing and reduce shipment holds.

Dirk Olufs, EVP and Global CIO at DHL Express, said cleaner shipment data improves the entire shipping process.  Enna Zarate, Senior Vice President for Digital Customer Solutions, said the item description field has long been a challenge for customers shipping internationally.
