CK Line returns to Huangpu Wenchong for container ships
Credit: Huangpu Wenchong CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has signed a construction contract with renowned South Korean liner operator CK Line in Guangzhou for a two firm plus two optional 6,400 teu capacity container vessels.

“Built on solid cooperation foundations from previous projects, this renewed partnership marks deepened bilateral ties and embodies the shipbuilder’s strategic achievements in tapping the South Korean market and consistently serving East Asian shipowners,” stated Huangpu Wenchong.   Designed by the Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC), the 6,406 teu container vessels feature an overall length of 240 metres, a moulded breadth of 42.8 metres and a deadweight of around 80,310 tonnes, equipped with 1,150 reefer container slots.   Optimised for commercial efficiency and green operation, the vessel design boasts multiple core advantages including large loading capacity, low per-container transportation costs, flexible operational adaptability, high sailing speed and superior environmental performance.

Specialising in container shipping services covering China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, CK Line has maintained steady cooperation with Huangpu Wenchong. The shipyard already delivered two 2,700 teu container carriers to the Korean liner in 2025.      Huangpu Wenchong has continuously enriched its full spectrum of container ship products, covering mainstream types ranging from 1,900 teu, 3,000 teu, 4,300 teu, 5,300 teu up to 6,400 teu, supporting mass order intake.

To date, the shipyard has secured 26 firm orders for 6,000 teu-class medium container ships, serving a wide range of top-tier shipping enterprises across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
