JNPA sustains robust growth momentum of handling nearly 3 Million TEUs and 36.62 Million tonnes of cargo in April–July FY 2026–27
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s premier container port, has continued its impressive growth trajectory by registering strong double-digit growth in both container traffic and overall cargo handling during the first four months of FY 2026–27.

JNPA sustains robust growth momentum of handling nearly 3 Million TEUs and 36.62 Million tonnes of cargo in April–July FY 2026–27

Between April and July 2026, JNPA handled 29,94,859 TEUs of container traffic and 36.62 million tonnes of total cargo, reflecting a 14.37% increase in container throughput and an 11.95% growth in overall cargo volumes compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.   The sustained growth highlights JNPA’s operational excellence, enhanced terminal productivity, and its continued role as India’s leading gateway for containerized trade. The port’s performance has been driven by improved vessel turnaround, higher cargo handling efficiency, seamless multimodal connectivity, and the collective efforts of terminal operators, shipping lines, logistics partners, customs authorities, and other stakeholders across the maritime supply chain.

JNPA’s world-class infrastructure, advanced digital initiatives, and continuous investments in capacity augmentation have enabled the port to efficiently handle increasing cargo volumes while maintaining high standards of operational reliability. The integration of road and rail connectivity, along with ongoing modernization initiatives, continues to strengthen the port’s position as a key logistics hub supporting India’s growing domestic and international trade.   The encouraging performance also reflects the resilience of India’s maritime sector and the growing confidence of global shipping lines and trade partners in JNPA’s capabilities. As international trade volumes continue to rise, the port remains focused on enhancing customer experience through faster cargo evacuation, improved logistics efficiency, and sustainable port operations.      With its consistent operational achievements and strategic infrastructure development, JNPA continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s maritime ecosystem, facilitating global commerce, and contributing to the Government of India’s vision of transforming the country into a leading global logistics and maritime hub.

The latest performance reinforces JNPA’s commitment to delivering efficient, reliable, and future-ready port services while supporting India’s economic growth and expanding role in global supply chains.
