Chennai Port Authority has once again demonstrated its operational excellence by creating multiple milestones in bulk cargo handling on 30 July 2026, reaffirming its position as one of India's leading ports for efficient and customer-centric cargo operations.
Chennai Port achieved an all-time record by handling 46,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) of Barytes exports in a single day through the vessel M.V. Nafisa Jahan at Jawahar Dock-II. This remarkable achievement surpassed the previous record of 45,200 MT handled through M.V. Ghousta at Jawahar Dock-IV on 31 May 2022
Adding another significant milestone, Chennai Port successfully handled 13,208 MT of Pig Iron, a new cargo commodity, through the vessel M.V. Agia Charis at Jawahar Dock-IV on the same day. T
Further strengthening Chennai Port's cargo handling infrastructure, Shri Sachin S. Kurve, I.A.S., Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority, inaugurated the operations of three state-of-the-art Harbour Mobile Cranes (HMCs) deployed by M/s. B.L. Transport.
