The Institution of Marine Engineers (India) [IME(I)] Mumbai Branch, together with the Navi Mumbai and Gujarat Chapters, held its 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) and a Technical Seminar at Emerald Hall, Hotel Kohinoor Continental, Andheri (East), Mumbai on 29th August 2026.
The AGM reviewed the Branch’s activities and achievements during the year, approved the Annual Report and Financial Statements, and outlined future initiatives in professional development, member engagement, technical excellence and seafarer welfare.
Addressing the members, Mr Sanjeev V. Mehra, Chairman, IME(I) Mumbai Branch, highlighted the Branch’s continued efforts in organising technical seminars, training programmes, mentorship initiatives, welfare activities and social responsibility programmes. He also invited the maritime fraternity to participate in INMARCO 2026, scheduled to be held in Mumbai from 27 to 29 October 2026.
Mr Sunayan Sanatani, Honorary Secretary, presented the Annual Activities Report, highlighting the Branch’s technical programmes, welfare initiatives and 17% growth in membership during the year.
A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 7th Mumbai Branch Meritorious Service Awards 2026 to Mr Karan Madhok and Mr Ramawatar Ladha in recognition of their valuable contributions to the Institution.
The inaugural Marine Engineer’s Excellence Award was presented to Mr Prashant Khadilkar, Chief Engineer of MV Aruna Ismail, in recognition of his commendable role in rescuing a disabled fishing vessel and helping to save three survivors and their dog. The company associated with the vessel was also felicitated for its support of maritime safety.
