VOC Port Celebrates 100-Vessel Milestone
V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has marked a significant milestone with the arrival of its 100th vessel, highlighting the port’s growing operational activity and strengthening position as a key maritime gateway on India’s east coast.

VOC Port Celebrates 100-Vessel Milestone

The milestone comes amid continued efforts by VOC Port to expand cargo-handling capacity, improve operational efficiency and strengthen connectivity with international markets. The port has been investing in container infrastructure, bulk cargo facilities and digital technologies to support rising trade volumes. VOC Port has also recorded several operational achievements in 2026, including strong growth in container handling and record cargo throughput. The port recently became the first major Indian port to implement a digital twin platform, using real-time data, IoT, GPS, LiDAR and other technologies to improve vessel and cargo operations.   The port’s ongoing infrastructure expansion includes the development of additional cargo berths and container facilities, aimed at improving capacity and reducing vessel turnaround times. These investments are expected to support VOC Port’s long-term role in facilitating trade through southern India.

The 100-vessel milestone further underscores the port’s expanding maritime operations and its focus on building a more efficient, technology-driven and sustainable logistics gateway.
