The project adds another U.S. Coast Guard Subchapter T-certified vessel to LM Workboats‘ growing portfolio, reinforcing its experience building sophisticated vessels meeting demanding federal safety and construction standards.   Built as a highly capable, multi-mission research platform, the vessel will feature a large aft working deck with integrated A-frame equipped or deploying and retrieving sampling gear, buoys and other research equipment. A dynamic station-keeping system will allow crews to maintain precise position during sampling and data collection, even in challenging tidal and current conditions. Powered by twin MAN diesel engines, the 59-foot vessel is designed for speeds of at least 20 knots and will be built to Subchapter T, ABYC, AWS and UNOLS standards, with certification for up to 20 passengers.   The Maryland DNR vessel joins a growing portfolio of specialized aluminum vessels built by LM Workboats for government, municipal and institutional clients across the country. Construction will begin at the company’s dedicated metal fabrication facility, followed by final outfitting and systems integration at its Thomaston, Me., waterfront facility.
