The chamber said improved infrastructure
and stronger policy support are essential to enhance the competitiveness of
businesses in the region and support the growth of exports and domestic
trade. KCCI highlighted the need for
better logistics connectivity and trade-related infrastructure to help
businesses reduce transportation costs, improve supply-chain efficiency and
access wider markets. The chamber also called for greater support for MSMEs,
which play an important role in the local economy and employment generation.
Easier access to finance, improved infrastructure and streamlined government
procedures could help smaller businesses expand their operations. Mangaluru’s strategic location and access to
port infrastructure provide significant opportunities to develop the city as a
regional trade and logistics hub. Strengthening connections between industrial
clusters, the port and other transport networks could further improve the
movement of goods. KCCI’s demands come as businesses seek improved infrastructure and a
more supportive operating environment amid growing competition in domestic and
international markets.
