Railway Minister AshwiniVaishnaw will launch several logistics projects and passenger amenities in Gujarat through video conferencing on Tuesday, (15 Sep) strengthening rail freight and passenger connectivity across the state.

Railway Minister to Launch Five Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals and Passenger Projects in Gujarat

The Minister will dedicate four GatiShakti Cargo Terminals (GCTs) to the nation at Bhimasar and Shivlakha in Kutch, Devaliya in Junagadh, and Chandisar in Banaskantha. He will also lay the foundation stone for a new GCT at Linch in Mehsana. The GCTs are expected to strengthen rail-based freight transportation and modern logistics infrastructure, providing industries and businesses with more efficient options for moving cargo by rail. Private-sector participation in these facilities will also support the development of additional rail logistics infrastructure.     Vaishnaw will further inaugurate the Gopalpur railway station in Kutch and the stoppage of the Bhuj–Shalimar Express at Anjar station.      The new Gopalpur station is aimed at improving regional rail connectivity and passenger amenities while eliminating the need for engine reversal at Gandhidham for trains operating to and from Ahmedabad and Bhuj, thereby reducing operational time. Meanwhile, the Bhuj–Shalimar Express halt at Anjaris expected to provide passengers with direct access to major cities and destinations, eliminating the need to travel to other stations to board the train.   Together, the projects are expected to boost cargo movement, commercial activity, logistics infrastructure and passenger rail connectivity across Gujarat.
