Bihar will soon launch three
new ‘marine drive’ projects along the Ganga River, inspired by the success of
the J.P. Ganga Path in Patna, with a total estimated investment of ₹17,000
crore, State Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin said. “Encouraged by the success of the J.P. Ganga
Path in Patna, we are now moving ahead with three more four-lane road projects
along the Ganga to strengthen regional connectivity and ease traffic
congestion,” said the Minister, “The
tendering process for all three projects has been completed. We are grateful to
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Ji, whose
decisive leadership and unwavering support have been instrumental in realizing Bihar’s
infrastructure vision.”
The
three projects include the 35.65-kilometer Digha-Sherpur-Bihta-Koilwar
corridor; the 41.33-kilometer Sultanganj-Bhagalpur Sabour route; and the
42-kilometer Munger (Safiabad)-Bariyarpur-Ghorghat-Sultanganj stretch.
Minister Nabin emphasized the
broader impact, “The four-lane marine drive projects will not only improve
travel and connectivity but also boost tourism and local enterprise. Once complete, the nearly 84
km Munger–Bhagalpur network will serve as a vital link for north Bihar, cut
travel times, and function as a ring road for Bhagalpur and Munger, easing
urban congestion.”
The
Sultanganj-Bhagalpur Ganga Path will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs
4,849.83 crore, the Munger-Sultanganj Ganga Path at Rs 5,119.80 crore, and the
Digha-Sherpur-Bihta-Koilwar project at Rs 6,495.79 crore.
The project plan also includes
developing ghats along the corridors to further boost tourism.
