Officials from the
Ministry of Shipping and the Directorate General of Shipping stated that there
have been no reports of threats or incidents involving Indian vessels in the
region so far. Shipping companies have also been advised to remain vigilant and
follow updated safety guidelines while navigating through sensitive maritime
routes.
The government has
been coordinating with international maritime bodies and regional authorities
to track developments and provide timely advisories to ship operators. Industry
stakeholders said such monitoring is essential as geopolitical tensions can
quickly affect major shipping corridors and trade flows.
West Asia remains a
crucial region for India’s energy supplies and maritime trade, with a significant
volume of oil, gas, and cargo shipments passing through its sea lanes.
Authorities have reiterated that they will continue to assess risks and take
necessary measures to safeguard Indian vessels and seafarers.
