Providing an update, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary, MoPSW,
stated that the Indian-flagged crude oil tanker Desh Garima—which safely transited the
region on 18 March with 31 Indian seafarers onboard—is expected to arrive in
Mumbai later this evening. The Ministry
continues to actively monitor the situation and ensure the safety and welfare
of Indian maritime personnel. So far, coordinated efforts have enabled the safe
repatriation of more than 2,615 Indian seafarers, including 25 individuals in
the last 24 hours alone. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to
maintaining close vigilance and extending all necessary support to Indian
seafarers operating in sensitive maritime regions.
