Day of the Seafarer (25 June) - Message from , Honourable Secretary, ImarEST, UAE

Over 80% of global trade moves because of them. Yet, behind the goods on our shelves is a terrifying reality. Right now, our mariners are navigating seas of piracy, projectile strikes & systemic abandonment. They bear immense personal risks every single day & seafarer happiness is heavily deteriorating. We cannot allow their vital sacrifices to remain invisible.

This year’s Day of the Seafarer campaign highlights the hardship, pressure and risks of life at sea, especially in high‑risk and conflict‑affected areas, while underscoring seafarers’ essential role in keeping global trade moving.

Centered on the line “Carrying world trade. Carrying the risks”, it stresses that their vital contribution often remains out of sight despite difficult and dangerous conditions.

The aim is to recognize their contribution while acknowledging the risks and sacrifices behind it.

On this Seafarers Day 2026, Mr. NIKEEL IDNANI (Hon Secretary, IMarEST UAE branch) poured everything into a candid, unfiltered talk fiercely championing our maritime heroes. It is time to acknowledge the people who keep the world moving.
