GMU Provost Prof. S. Shanthakumar invited by IMO for Distinguished Lecture at IMLI
In a significant step towards strengthening global maritime legal education, Prof. Dr. Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, Provost of Gujarat Maritime University and Director of Gujarat National Law University, will deliver a distinguished expert lecture at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute during its 37th Academic Year.

The session, scheduled today 30th April 2026 at 10:00 AM, underscores the growing international recognition of India’s academic leadership in maritime law. A respected authority in the field, Prof. Dr. Shanthakumar’s engagement with IMLI reflects a strong commitment to advancing legal scholarship, fostering global collaboration, and contributing to the development of future maritime leaders. His lecture is expected to provide valuable insights into contemporary maritime legal frameworks and emerging challenges in the sector, further reinforcing the role of academic institutions in shaping policy and practice at the international level.  The initiative has been made possible with the support of Dr. Norman Martinez, whose continued efforts in promoting academic exchange and cooperation have strengthened ties between leading maritime institutions worldwide.

This engagement marks yet another milestone in enhancing India’s presence in the global maritime academic landscape and highlights the importance of knowledge-sharing in building a sustainable and future-ready maritime ecosystem.
