MbPA to take firm action against chronic defaulters and unauthorised occupants

The move comes as MbPA works to develop major port-centric infrastructure in line with the Government of India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and Maritime India Vision. Planned projects include the Viksit Bharat Mumbai Marina, maritime tourism facilities, cruise infrastructure, water transport networks and other key developments aimed at strengthening Mumbai’s position in the global maritime ecosystem.  MbPA has stated that several lessees and tenants have accumulated substantial lease rental arrears, affecting the Authority’s ability to invest its resources in important public infrastructure projects. The Authority has therefore engaged senior legal experts and leading law firms to pursue recovery of outstanding dues.      According to MbPA, some tenants have also been involved in violations such as unauthorised construction, illegal subletting, unapproved transfers and unauthorised changes in land use. Such violations pose concerns for port security, public safety and lawful commercial activity.
