Leader of the
Opposition V.D. Satheesan said the state would step up efforts to attract
investments while focusing on projects that can strengthen Kerala’s position in
the maritime and logistics sectors.
The proposed initiatives are expected to cover areas linked to ports,
shipping and maritime infrastructure, with the objective of improving
connectivity and creating opportunities for businesses and investors. Kerala’s extensive coastline and access to
major international shipping routes provide opportunities to develop port-led
industries, logistics facilities and related services. Strengthening maritime
infrastructure could also support trade and improve the movement of goods
through the state. The investment push
is expected to involve both public and private sector participation, with
project development and implementation to progress through the relevant
government agencies. The state’s
maritime focus comes as India continues to expand port capacity and logistics
infrastructure to support rising domestic and international trade. Further
details on individual projects, investment commitments and implementation
timelines are expected as the initiatives move forward.
