The panel will work on coordinating the implementation of policy measures and facilitating development across areas linked to ports, shipping, logistics and maritime services.    Maharashtra has a significant coastline and a network of ports that support domestic and international trade. Strengthening maritime infrastructure is expected to improve connectivity and create opportunities for logistics, industrial activity and investment along the state’s coastal belt.    The committee will also help coordinate efforts among relevant government departments and stakeholders involved in maritime development. Such coordination is important for aligning infrastructure projects, investment initiatives and policy measures.    The move comes as Maharashtra seeks to expand the contribution of its maritime sector and make better use of its coastal and port infrastructure. Improved port connectivity and logistics capacity could support cargo movement and strengthen supply chains serving industrial centres across the state.    The committee’s work is expected to provide a framework for implementing the maritime policy and advancing projects and initiatives identified under the state’s broader maritime development agenda.
